General Directions
The New Mexico State University system includes five campuses. The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies is housed in Breland Hall on the Main Campus of NMSU in Las Cruces, Doña Ana County, southwestern New Mexico. Located conveniently at the intersection of two major interstates and one major Highway, Breland Hall (norhwest corner of Stewart St. and S. Locus St.) can be reached easily by car via I-25 from the north (e.g, Albuquerque), via I-10 from the west (e.g., Tucson) and south (e.g, El Paso), and via Highway 70 from the east (e.g., Alamogordo).
The closest airport is El Paso International Airport, which is located about 50 miles south of Las Cruces. The next closest airports are Albuquerque International Sunport and Tucson International Airport, which are about 225 miles north and 275 miles west of Las Cruces, respectively.
Parking
Visitors to NMSU’s Main Campus may take advantage of free parking and Aggie Transit shuttle service to commute around campus. Visitors wanting to park on campus are required to have a valid parking permit and observe parking rules, which are strictly enforced Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Contact NMSU Transportation and Parking Services for more information.
